Why You Should Get An Electric Bicycle

You need to get from Point A to Point B. What do you choose?

You could choose “Ole’ Faithful” - the standby automobile that’s been there for many major moment of your life. But you notice the right front and left back tires on your car are going flat more often; a hefty bill for a new set of tires is looming. That occasionally failing fuel pump means all the money you put into your car did not stop it from depreciating and showing its age. And the rising gas prices makes throwing another $50 into the tank feel so... unappealing. More small parts, more things to go wrong, more money than you can afford. “Ole’ Faithful” is slowly becoming less faithful.

You could put your trust in public transit. But deep down, you are at a point in your life where you should not be a slave to a restrictive bus service that does not run past midnight, eats more time out of your day through transfers, and slowly eats at your wallet with monthly bus pass renewals. And let’s face it. That one guy in the back having a very heated debate with an empty seat is not what you would like to sign up for, no matter how amusing it is to watch. Just don’t make eye contact, right? Ugh.

You kept telling yourself to start biking again for years, now; perhaps that’s the best option. You smile at the thought, but the sports knee pipes up and puts you back in your place. The only thing worse than people telling you that you can’t do something, is your own body telling you that you can’t do something. But you know that there is no defeat until you admit it and start believing. Not yet, you say. Not yet.

So here’s the question again. You need to get from Point A to Point B. What do you choose?

Why not an electric bike? They offer the comfort, power, and independence you deserve.

COMFORT IN VERSATILITY:
There is a great deal of comfort found in the versatility of today’s electric bicycles. You get to choose how you would like your ride to feel! Do you want to feel pulled, by having the battery-powered motor on the front wheel? How about pushed, as if by an athlete, propelled forward by a motor on the back wheel? Or maybe a motor powering the drivetrain itself, creating a sense of balance? All of these choices dictate how you can get the best ride out of your e-bike.

Other measures of comfort come from the light weight of the frame, comfy seats, and the larger tires on certain models, (ex. “Fatbikes”), whose wheels act like shock absorbers, so hills, gravel, and evil pothole bumps are no match for you.

POWER IN ASSISTANCE:
You have to feel empowered with a transportation investment. So, how does a mobile, personal spin class sound? All electric bikes are tuned to have a top speed of 32km/hr, with adjustable levels of pedal assistance there to help give a controlled workout. The pedal assistance acts like reverse gear resistance - the more assistance you add, the less you have to pedal, which helps in snowy, hilly terrain, or giving your legs a much needed cool-down while not hampering your travel progress. You get a safer, more balanced workout, and no muscle spasms cramping up your day from working your legs harder than you need to. You get stronger, safer, with an electric bike.

If you want to leave the city, and take to the wild unknown, electric bikes have you covered there, too. Certain e-bike models can take on uneven terrain with ease - especially when you make your e-bike an off-road only machine by increasing its top speed to 45 km/hr. You have the opportunity to say “yes, you can” on an electric bicycle.

INDEPENDENCE IN FREEDOM:
Speaking of “yes you can,” an e-bike’s pedal assistance system overcomes disabilities and injuries. The pedal assistance promotes physical rehabilitation, helping you to slowly rebuild, and take back the life you thought was behind you, all while propelling you forward, at your own pace.

You have more freedom with the money in your wallet, too. Instead of $50 of gas every ten days, insurance, money for maintenance, money for a monthly pass, money for plates, licenses, fluids, etc., you need:

A cord.
A wall outlet.

Yup. That’s it. Charge it anywhere! For free! That leaves room in your bank account for the things that really matter.

So. Back to the question. Point A. Get to Point B. What do you choose? After all, it’s the choices we make that drive us forward farther than any electric motor can. Let’s see if you make the choice that takes you the farthest.

Meet your Point B.”
